Birth Doula Care -

We believe birth doula care should provide a birthing person with the information and support they need to navigate pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum transition with joy and confidence. Our goal as your doula is to provide educational, emotional, physical, and advocational support during your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience - filling in the gaps in your maternity care. While OBGYNs and Midwives support you medically, doulas are there to make sure you have the information you need and the physical support you deserve to have a successful and low intervention birth. Our Birth Doula support includes:

  • 24/7 Phone/Text support to answer questions regarding pregnancy, birth, or postpartum planning.

  • Helping you understand your pregnancy symptoms

  • Access to our network of community resources so we can provide referrals as needed. Looking for a pediatrician? Chiropractor? Childbirth Education class? We can help you find the right fit for your family in these categories and more.

  • Access to our comprehensive lending library full of books to help you prepare for childbirth, breastfeeding, postpartum, and more

  • Helping you to understand the physiology of birth and the best ways to prepare your body and mind for the process of birth and the postpartum transition

  • Helping you form a birth plan by teaching you about the routine procedures and experiences involved in childbirth and helping you determine the best choices for your family.

  • Encourage open communication with your care provider so your birth preferences can be heard and respected.

  • Provide resources to help you prepare for the postpartum transition.

    Two Prenatal Visits:

    First Visit includes:

  • A 2-3 hour “what to expect in labor” class to help you understand the physiology of labor, stages of labor, laboring at home, when to transition to your birthing place, what to expect in your birthing place, understanding the benefits/risks of possible interventions, reducing your risk of over intervention/c-section, pushing, and what to expect immediately post-birth.

  • A birth planning session where we use the information gathered above to create a plan around your preferences

  • A discussion around the best ways to help prepare your body for a successful physiologic birth including an optimal fetal positioning stretch routine.

    Second Visit Includes:

  • A comfort measures and coping class helping you to understand the psychology of coping and comfort through labor, the hormonal physiology of birth, positions to aid in labor progress and comfort, breath work in labor, visualization, pharmacological comfort and the best time to use an epidural, reducing your risk of tearing, and more

  • Partner support- helping your partner learn the best ways to support you through labor

  • Guidance in massage, acupressure, and counter pressure techniques for labor comfort to familiarize you before the birth

Continuous Labor Support in home and in your birthing place: 

  • We will be on-call 24/7 from 37-42 weeks of your pregnancy

  • Provide early labor advice and support via phone/text to help you understand where you are in the labor and determine when the right time for additional support

  • Help you determine the right time to call your care provider/head to your place of birth

  • Provide in home labor support and help you transition to your place of birth

  • Provide continuous labor support, apart from short breaks to meet personal needs

  • Support and involve your partner in helping you navigate labor

  • Create and strive to maintain a calm and peaceful birth environment

  • Support you physically using positioning, massage, acupressure, counter pressure, rebozo, visualization/ breathing, and more

  • Use of the TENS 7000 electrode devise for labor comfort

  • Help birth progress naturally and without intervention

  • Support you informationally in navigating any suggested birth interventions (is it time for analgesia, c-section, etc?) We are here to help you know your options as well as the benefits/risks involved in every choice

  • Help you decide the right time to use an epidural (if you desire one) and make recommendations for labor progress after placing an epidural

  • Per your request, we can take photos using your phone or camera to capture your birth story and those first precious moments

  • We will stay with you for 1-2 hours postpartum until both parents and baby are comfortable. We will support you in establishing breastfeeding and helping you understand what to expect from baby in the first few days

Postpartum:

  • The birth support package includes one postpartum visit (1-2 hours) where we can process your birth experience as well as answer any questions you have about newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum adjustment.
